Top Ten films for September viewing

Much of this month’s viewing, after the hothouse of the film festival, will be catching up on DVDs:

  • Balibo – the film festival’s opener but I’ll see it at our local
  • Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds – the big question to me is: does he trivialize this?
  • The Soloist – reaches our shores later in the month
  • The Singing Revolution – a doco DVD about Estonia’s liberation at the end of the Cold War
  • Duplicity on DVD
  • The Watchmen on DVD
  • Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock
  • Thomas McCarthy’s second film, The Visitor, a 2007 film
  • The Band’s Visit – a low-key film that came and vanished
  • Anvil! The Story of Anvil
