Top Ten films for August viewing

Seeing ten films in a month is more difficult than it seems but August is aided by the film festival:

  • Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds hits our screens towards the end of the month
  • Tyson – I’m tagging this as a look at evil but let’s not judge before seeing
  • The Hurt Locker – drama about a bomb squad in Iraq
  • In the Loop – a satirical look at the British decision to invade Iraq
  • Duplicity – a comedy thriller (out on DVD) with Clive Owen
  • The Watchmen – who knows if I’ll like this (I missed it live) but the DVD is a must-see, I’m told
  • Blessed – Ana Kokkinos’s latest
  • The Cove – an intriguing doco underwater in Japan
  • Balibo – the film festival’s opener but I’ll see it at our local
  • Letter to Anna – a documentary tribute to murdered Russian journalist Anna Politskovskaya
