Booker Prize long list

Here’s the announcement. Should I read any of them in advance this year? I certainly didn’t do a good job of getting through last year’s short or long list after the event. Only the first two of the thirteen are on my list. After a quick scout, I end up adding the next three – that will do as a start:

  • Colm Toibin’s Brooklyn
  • The Wilderness by Samantha Harvey
  • J. M. Coetzee’s Summertime
  • Sarah Hall’s How to Paint a Dead Man
  • William Trevor’s Love and Summer
  • The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters
  • Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall
  • The Children’s Book by A. S. Byatt
  • The Quickening Maze by Adam Foulds
  • Me Cheeta by James Lever
  • Simon Mawer’s The Glass Roof
  • Ed O’Loughlin’s Not Untrue & Not Unkind
  • Heliopolis by James Scudamore
