Top Ten albums for July listening

June was full of varied, fine listening, as will be July:

  • At last Steve Kilbey’s Painkiller is on the way
  • My very first Smog/Bill Callahan, the wonderfully titled Sometimes I Wish We Were an Eagle
  • Dirty guitar work from The Horrors – Primary Colours
  • Deaths & Entrances, Frames-like rock from My Latest Novel
  • Just arrived, Yonder Is the Clock by The Felice Brothers
  • The arty, eclectic Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear
  • More art-rock, even stranger I’m sure, Bitte Orca by The Dirty Projectors
  • E looks like a ZZ Top outcast on the cover of The Eels’ newie, Hombre Lobo: 12 Songs of Desire
  • Summer Palace, pop from Sunny Day Sets Fire
  • Hopefully sounding just like Grandaddy, Jason Lytle’s Yours Truly, The Commuter
