Top Ten films for July viewing

June proved to be disastrous for movie appreciation. Films vanished after short seasons, DVDs didn’t come out, reading took precedence. July optimistically beckons:

  • The most hyped serious film in Melbourne is Disgrace – I was smitten by the book, so this is a priority
  • Bruno – the few scenes I saw of this offshoot character of Borat had me in stitches
  • Jim Jarmusch’s The Limits of Control – sure to intrigue
  • Noodle – I know little about this Jewish film but my brother wants to see it and his taste is good
  • Last Ride – I’ve seen the trailer for this moody outing for wonderful actor Hugo Weaving
  • Star Trek – is it Stoicism in action or not?
  • The Hangover – I need a laugh
  • Vicky Christina Barcelona – this and the next two are leftovers from June
  • The Wrestler
  • The Singing Revolution
