Top Ten films for June viewing

Winter in Melbourne tends to be rich with worthwhile films:

  • Vicky Christina Barcelona – I missed this at the box office, now for the DVD
  • Samson & Delilah – a rare Aussie film with rave reviews
  • Synecdoche New York – another Charlie Kaufman
  • My Year Without Sex – if it’s as good as Sarah Watts’s last one, this is a must see
  • Katyn – my brother and I have been waiting for a local releaseĀ for months
  • State of Play – I’m a sucker for good-guy journalist flicks
  • The Reader – inexplicably missed during its long season, I can’t wait to get the DVD
  • X-Men Origins: Wolverine
  • The Wrestler – Mickey Rourke in action (another DVD)
  • The Singing Revolution – an Estonian documentary on the passage to freedom at the end of the Cold War
